CloudShark runs on top of a CentOS or RHEL 7 or 8 Linux installation which meets our system requirements. The system can be real hardware, a virtual machine, or on your public or private cloud infrastructure.
We recommend starting with CentOS 8.1+ minimal configuration.
Installation requires a valid CloudShark Lounge account (this includes registered trial users) and will automatically download and install any dependencies and the latest version of CloudShark.
Please note that CloudShark is node locked to the system it is first installed upon. See our licensing page for more information.
Please follow these steps to install CloudShark:
Install a CentOS or RHEL 7 or 8 system.
Upgrade the operating system. In a terminal, become the root user and upgrade the system by running the following commands. If you’re running RHEL, first you need to activate the optional software channel.
su yum upgrade
Install CloudShark’s dependencies. In a terminal run one of the following commands. Be sure to include the space after the word ‘bash’.
If you are installing on physical hardware, or a virtual machine run:
bash <(curl -s https://support.cloudshark.io/get)
If you are installing CloudShark on an Amazon AWS EC2 Instance, run the following command instead:
bash <(curl -s https://support.cloudshark.io/aws)
Enter your CloudShark Lounge username and password. The script will install several components and then indicate when it has completed.
Install CloudShark and your license. To complete installation you must install CloudShark and your license file by running this command:
cloudshark-admin --register --install-latest
Access the Web UI and Login
To access CloudShark, point a web browser at the system’s DNS hostname or IP address.
For example, if the system’s hostname is ‘cloudshark’, then visit point your browser at:
Likewise, if the system’s IP address is 192.168.1.100, then CloudShark can also be accessed vi the URL:
If the CloudShark system is running, you should receive a login page.
By default CloudShark will listen for HTTP on port 80 and will listen on port 443 for HTTPS using a self-signed certificate. Here is more information about the default configuration and how to update this.
We encourage you to log in and explore your CloudShark system’s settings. The default user account and password for CloudShark are:
- Username: admin
- Password: cloudshark
After logging into CloudShark change the default password by going to
Preferences -> Account in the upper right corner.
The admin account is a special account with additional functionality and privileges. Visit the Administration link in the top right-hand corner of the page to create additional user accounts and set system-wide preferences.
